Smartphones can do a lot without apps, but why would you want to? Even without apps, your phone can perform many important tasks, including placing and receiving calls, taking photos, maintaining a calendar, listening to music, solving math problems, taking notes, and browsing the web. That’s why so many people still carry feature phones around. But with a few well-chosen apps, you can make your smartphone more than just a cell phone: it can become an advanced dumbphone!
Uninstalling apps
In most cases, uninstalling apps from your smartphone is easy, but there are times when a phone’s performance can benefit from removing unwanted applications. While some of these apps may be useful, most are not, and you may want to delete them to make room on your device. Fortunately, the process to remove apps is easy and quick. You can uninstall any app from your smartphone’s main Settings menu or launcher.
If you’re using an Android phone, tap the App Manager menu to see all installed apps. Then, select the app you wish to delete and then tap the “Uninstall” button. You may also find the app in the Google Play Store. If you’ve deleted it using the Play Store, you can use the App Manager to uninstall it. You can also use a command line if you’d like.
Finding apps
The Finder app on your smartphone is a prebuilt search engine. It allows you to quickly find apps and files on your smartphone. By searching for a specific name, it gives results from the Internet. It can also scan your phone’s file system to show you results that are relevant to the search. This app can save you a lot of time by scanning for hidden files and allowing you to see the results you’re looking for instantly.
Customizing the homescreen
There are several ways to customize the home screen when installing smartphones. One way is by adding widgets. Widgets make the home screen more interesting and useful, allowing you to see upcoming appointments, weather, and news from your favourite sources. To add a widget, long-press on the empty home screen to display a widget gallery. If you don’t have any widgets installed, you can also download them from Google Play. After installing them, however, you may have to reinstall them if the software you installed changes.
Another great way to customize the homescreen is to organize apps. Android users can create folders for apps, such as starred contacts. Apple users can use their home screen to group apps. These folders will appear at the end of the home screen. Alternatively, you can rearrange the apps themselves. Once you’ve organized the apps, you can create folders to store different types of information. The folders should be categorized based on their importance, so you can sort them by priority.
Rebooting your phone to fix software issues
The problem with rebooting your phone to fix software issues is that a factory reset will remove all data from your device. The reboot process is more likely to happen when you are trying to apply a software fix. If you’ve tried deleting and reinstalling apps to no avail, you may try rebooting your phone again in normal mode. However, remember that this will erase all of your data, and you’ll need a recent backup to restore it.
Rebooting your phone will usually improve performance. It will also make apps load quicker and enable you to switch between apps more quickly. Luckily, you don’t have to do this every time you experience an issue. Depending on the reason for the problem, you may encounter more complicated issues. If the problem persists, you may want to look for a more advanced solution. Sometimes, restarting the phone will solve software problems but you shouldn’t do this too often.
Using the Microsoft Phone Link app
If you’re looking for a way to install your smartphone on your PC, you’ve probably already heard about the Link to Windows feature. It allows you to run Android apps directly on your PC, and is preloaded on select Samsung smartphones. The Link to Windows feature also allows you to open up to 5 Android applications at once. To use the feature, you’ll need to be running the latest version of Windows 10, or be running the May 2019 update.
Once installed, you can filter notifications, make calls, and more. The Phone Link app is designed to be part of your PC taskbar, so you may notice it’s pinned to it. To remove it from the taskbar, simply right-click it and select Unpin. This process can be repeated for as many devices as you wish. You can also change the language and layout settings. Once you’re ready to go, you can unpin the Phone Link app.
